My Blog

Hello everyone.  This is my first foray into the blogosphere. I'll be talking about hearing related subjects that we encounter in everyday life including some of my pet peeves.

One of my "sound off" subjects is having a conversation in restaurants. Impossible!!  Many of today's restaurants are designed with poor acoustics: high ceilings, hard surfaces, loud music.  One of the first dates I went on with my husband was to a restaurant in the San Fernando Valley.  My husband has a severe loss in both ears so we were at a disadvantage to begin with.  The restaurant was very dark, had loud music and was very noisy.  Needless to say, we just smiled at each other and held hands since we couldn't converse.  Even though the food was good there, we never went back because it was impossible to talk with each other.

I think I may start a rating system of local restaurants based solely on the ability to have a conversation.  How about 5 ears for best conditions?  I am open to suggestions.
